Steamboat Rock
Steamboat Rock
Steamboat Rock is an iconic rock formation in Dinosaur National Monument. Seen from the air, the big triangle shape is the face of a 1,000 foot tall, narrow spine that extends back one mile. The Green River follows this spine, and meets the Yampa River part way down. Then, the combined waters flow around the end of Steamboat Rock and head to Utah. This is a dramatic, remote place, and a favorite summer camping spot for my family.
