Thunder
Thunder
I've been imagining what it would be like if we had to write a new set of myths about the world around us. How to explain thunder and other sorts of dramatic weather? So many questions! Here is my imaginary Creator of Thunder.
Thunder is printed in black and coppery ink on Rives BFK printmaking paper. It is an edition of 20 prints. The image is 11 x 14 inches and the paper is 15 x 18
Thunder
A low melody thrums through the wind,
electric energy calling the weather down.
Dark, wet clouds blow past,
sparking with friction.
The afternoon is large and moody,
here at the top of the world.
Who crafts this thunder,
so full of power and surprise?
Who builds sound to roll across the prairie,
chasing lightening, but never catching it?
Weather ignores the business of humanity,
but no one can ignore the bass shock of thunder,
announcing the arrival of a storm.
