Wild Things
Wild Things
In the dark of the country,
Where the wild things prowl,
Nature sighs and stirs.
Stars glitter, bears sniff, bats flutter and dive.
For a few hours,
While busy people sleep,
The land returns to the old ways.
Aspens sway, owls glide, rivers flow and roll.
In the far away country,
And in our backyard,
Night creatures claim their place.
Moon sets, raccoons sneak, deer wander through sage.
In the night,
We dream oblivious,
While the wild things roam.
